A few months after my trip to Vancouver I headed back up to Canada with my boyfriend where we were joining some friends for a long weekend in Whistler. I packed up my snow gear and passport and hit the road.
After we spent a day driving we were starving and decided to have dinner at Caramba Restaurant in the village. My boyfriend Nate ordered us two Caesars and I could barely drink mine due to the spice (then again I’m a wimp about anything more than 1 out of 5 stars of spice). The food and drinks were great nonetheless. We spent the evening in the hot tub staring at the stars.
The following day Nate left early to hit the slopes with his friends while I spent a nice slow morning sipping coffee and lounging in a hot bath. I also got to see a beautiful rainbow from the balcony of our apartment!
Later in the afternoon I met up with a friend for lunch and some shopping. We grabbed some pastry and coffees at Purebread then did some shopping at Aritzia. The pastries and desserts were delicious, if you ever find yourself in the village definitely make a stop. I ordered a blueberry crumble and was literally licking my fingers afterwards. For lunch we stopped in at Provisions for some tasty matcha and avo toast.
After Nate returned from a long day of skiing we headed to The Longhorn Saloon for après-ski. Our group had reserved a table which made the experience much more enjoyable. The music and drinks were flowing for hours until we headed to a hibachi dinner at Teppan Village.
The following morning Nate and I drove over to the Scandinave Spa Whistler, an incredible outdoor Nordic spa. The location was remote and surrounded by towering trees and mountains. We paid about $100 USD each, the best part is this covers a full day rate so you can stay as long as you want! Honestly a great deal considering the amenities and other spa prices.
While the spa itself is gorgeous, the really unique aspect is that it is a 100% silent experience. You’re not allowed to speak at all and you’re not allowed to bring or use your phone. It was so nice just listening to the wind in the trees, the rippling water and the birds singing.
The rotation you’re encouraged to follow at the spa is heat (steam room, sauna), then cold plunge, then hot tub. We did plenty of cycles and relaxed in their indoor and outdoor areas in between. It was a beautiful sunny day and the cold mountain air was delicious.
While you’re relaxing you can choose from plenty of outdoor chairs or couches, or you can read or nap inside one of the several sun rooms. I definitely dozed off I was so relaxed!
We took a few breaks to grab some drinks and food from the cafe, where you are allowed to talk. The view of the mountains was so pretty and the quality of the food was great.
After about 6 hours we packed our belongings and headed out. I don’t remember the last time I felt as relaxed as I did here, and I can’t wait to visit again. We grabbed some sushi for dinner at Sachi Sushi in the village and turned in before our return journey home the next day.
